Weekends With The Kids

Saturday

I took my kids out to visit my friend, M. I am glad her baby who was born premature is growing well. Her hubby (first time dad) was so anxious in helping M changing nappies, bathing and taking care of the baby. He seemed so experienced but M told me that he started to learn all that when the baby was born which was only a month ago. He even woke up at night a couple of times feeding the baby!

When my kids were babies, my husband and I took turn to wake up at night to feed them. It was not an easy job especially when the baby did not want to go back to sleep after the feed. When we went to work the next day, we looked like “panda” with big dark eye rings and a “heavy” head due to lack of sleep. The first few months were hard as the baby woke up every 2 - 3 hours. Things got better when the baby is 6 months old as he/she could slept 4 -5 hours straight.

I am sure who has shared the same experience will know what I mean.

Sunday

The polution index reached 150 in JB, that is considered unhealthy level. It was hazy everywhere. We could smell the smokes even we stayed at home.

We did not go out this weekend. We stayed at home the whole day. The kids were bored. I was thinking hard what to do to keep them “busy” and “entertained”.

They watched TV in the morning, we had story session after that. Time seemed to pass slowly. When I looked at the clock, it was not even 12 noon. So I let them play in the room while I prepared lunch for them.

My little girl suddenly came to hug me. She said,”Mama, can you not go to work? I like you stay at home to take care of me like what you do today.” I felt so sorry for her. I explained to her why mummy had to work to support the family.

She then said,”mama, I know you are working hard, I will be a good girl..” Oh..I felt so touched. She is only 2.5 years old.
