Farewell to my maid

To be frank, my initial decision is not to pen down anything about maid issue.

We were pretty upset sometimes with our maid on her attitude. Nevertheless, she did most of the job well.

My mum broke the news to her on tues late morning that we will be sending her back. We did not make known to her that we are getting a replacement, just told her I would stop working and look after the kids. Mum told me she cried a little, other than that, she was ok.

Y’day, I went back home to fetch her. She looked sad.

She was crying a little in the car. I am sure her stay with us brought her fond memories, my mum, my kids and all.

Perhaps I am the first employer who asked the agent so many questions on the welfare of my maid in future, etc. Agent must have a big question mark why I am sending her back when I cried! Yes, I cried… and maid cried again. It was very sad.

I told my friend we caused what happened today. Partly our fault that she was not given proper guidance. Now, she has to start her life with a new employer, she looked lost. I told agent to give her my handphone number. In case anything, she can call me.

I gave her an ang pao, I even bought her lunch. I feel like I am sending someone to a dead end.

Perhaps I am too pessimistic these few days.

Sometimes, not knowing the future of someone who was with us for quite some time, is quite scary.

I realised that I forgot to thank her for taking good care of my kids in the past. She mentioned my kids’ names before our farewell.

I hope she has a better employer.

Last but not least, I warned hubby not to tell my mother that I cried, so malu!
