When we reached the hospital, we took the referral letter to the A&E department, only to know that we should go to a different building where the specialists were.
After the specialist examined me, I was admitted straight away. However, we faced another dilemma. There were no bed. The nurse took a good one hour to put me in one of the beds in the maternity ward. Then they sent me to run a series of tests before the specialist said “it is the time”. I had to get ready to go into the operating theatre.
My head went blank. I knew I had to undergo operation but it just happened too fast. I have never been to the Operating theatre (OT) before. I could imagine the scenes in “healing hands”,” chicago hope”….I imagined the worst scenes too like” the family members are crying whille the husband is holding the wife’s hand when the wife is being pulled into the OT” . Despite the fact that the pain was killing me, I couldn’t believe that I was so imaginative.
The nurses reassured me, saying that it was a minor procedure. Then I heard the specialist said it’s time to go.
I felt that I was like facing death penalty. I could not hide my fear despite that I pretended to be ok. I remembered the anesthetician talked to me. I asked if there was any risks involved. He said,”Every procedure carries risk, but your case is minimal”.
There I went. My mind went blank when they injected something to me……..
